About the Program
What Is Flags for Heroes?
Flags for Heroes is the Guilford Rotary Charitable Foundation's signature annual fundraiser. Each year, around patriotic holidays, we plant hundreds of American flags throughout Greensboro neighborhoods — each one sponsored in honor of a veteran, active-duty service member, first responder, or community hero.
The program does two things at once: it creates a beautiful, visible tribute to those who serve, and it raises funds that go directly to veteran support programs and community initiatives right here in Greensboro. Every dollar raised stays local.
Simple Process
How It Works
Choose Your Hero
Select the veteran, active-duty service member, first responder, or community hero you want to honor. You can sponsor a flag in their name or in memory of someone you love.
Sponsor a Flag
Sponsorships start at $75 per flag. Choose your sponsorship level and complete your contribution online or by mail. All donations are tax-deductible.
We Plant Your Flag
Our volunteers plant your flag at the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market during Veterans Day Weekend.
Receive Your Medallion
You'll receive a medallion honoring your hero; a meaningful keepsake for the family.

Who We Honor
Veterans
Men and women who have served in any branch of the United States Armed Forces — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force.
Active-Duty Military
Currently serving members of the U.S. military, including those deployed overseas and those stationed stateside.
First Responders
Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians who protect and serve our Greensboro community every day.
Community Heroes
Teachers, healthcare workers, and others who have made an extraordinary difference in the lives of Greensboro residents.
